North Perth | Urban Design BUILDERS
Spending her childhood in the original
home, the client wanted to keep her existing
property but desired a more contemporary
style house. She also needed to build a second
property on the 561sqm lot that could be leased
at a later date.
To maximise building space while allowing
a 1.5m access path to the rear of the lot, both sides
of the front building had to include parapet walls,
with limestone retaining used to level the areas.
The client’s brief included a large balcony
area to enjoy city and Skyshow views, with the
rest of the home enjoying simple yet stylish
finishes and fittings.
Designer and builder Urban Design was a little
restricted with the size and location of the balcony
due to the elevated lot and privacy considerations
for the neighbours. The final design featured
a modest balcony situated over the front portico,
framed by the rendered facade and warm tones.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was
designed with the living and alfresco areas located
at the rear to allow them to catch the northern sun
in winter. In summer, the alfresco roof provides
protection from the hot sun, keeping the dining
and living areas cool.
