With a reputation for personalised service and speed of delivery,
MAEK specialises in luxurious custom homes.
This sprawling home in Mosman Park is one of
the suburb’s most significant heritage buildings,
but had undergone multiple changes, resulting
in a collision of styles and a dated floorplan.
MAEK’s brief was to extend and alter the building,
servicing it with the most sophisticated technology
available, and maintaining its original neo-classical
style, as influenced by English fashions of the 1930s.
To do so, MAEK collaborated with Rodrigues Bodycoat
Architects, Ozbyrd Interiors and BG&E Engineering.
The timeframe was a tight 18 months in which
to design, construct and furnish the property.
Staying true to the original home while carrying
out extensive extensions, MAEK created all the
brief’s accommodation, living and outdoor areas.
The original style was retained and refurbished
with classic materials, with the front facade having
its windows and brickwork restored.
Most impressive, and in contrast to the era of this
home, is the use of CBUS and RTI control technology.
This innovative system allows the operator to
select from ‘scenes’ rather than operating each
element individually. If the client selects the scene
titled Friends for Dinner, the landscape lights and
fountain come on, the gate opens, the internal lights
are dimmed, and the music is set at a soft level.
After the night is over, there is no need to turn off
each item. The clients just climb into bed and select
the scene Night Lights from their bedside panel.
This will turn off all lights, fountains and music,
leaving the clients with dimmed lights in the
staircase and powder room for safety.
