the seamless floor finish, dissolves the line between
indoors and outdoors.
The fully equipped alfresco area, along with
the games room, staircase and upper living areas,
all overlook the sculptured gardens, rear ponds,
waterfalls and pool.
A fully fledged bar attached to the games room
also serves the alfresco area via the same clever
German system, providing a three-metre long service
area. A pool bathroom is discreetly tucked
in to the back corner of the alfresco area, meaning
no wet footprints inside.
The basement level offers garaging for six cars
as well as extra room for all the other toys and a
workshop area, with natural lighting and ventilation.
The home is served by an ingeniously designed
lift shaft with a skylight above and a glass-door lift,
which provides light to the basement lobby. The
glass-door lift is a work of art in itself, in that all the
components including the mechanics were either
stainless steel or powdercoated in various colours to
provide an interesting industrial look.
Key sustainable products were also incorporated
into the design, including imported double glazing
with thermally broken frames, Kingspan AIR-
CELL Permicav® cavity wall insulation and a 5kw
photovoltaic power system.
More important than the products, the orientation
and configuration of the design work to keep the
home cool in summer and warm in winter. The
shape of the home and the various overhangs provide
shade in summer and allow the winter sun in to the
living areas, but perhaps the cleverest feature is the
thermostatically controlled heat-extraction system
that expels hot air from the top of the home and
draws in cooler air from the basement level.
Not only is the home a triumph of design, it is an
impressive feat of construction. In order to build this
home, three different types of ground shoring were
required as well as an array of specialty products.
Materials were specifically sought from Germany,
Italy, Turkey, America, India, and the east coast of
Australia, ensuring both exclusivity and stunning
visual impact, not to mention durability.
Lomma Homes’ commitment to quality and
attention to the finer details define this stunning
luxury home and put it in a category of its own.
Its custom design looks fantastic now and will
endure as a statement of both style and substance
for years to come.
