Clearly impressed with the result of their
previous home design and build by Craig
Sheiles Homes, the owners of this property
enlisted the company’s services again for this
project, just two doors down on the same street.
The 1000sqm wedge-shaped site sits on a
sweeping bend with a 41m frontage facing north,
narrowing to 12m at the rear. With these driving
factors, the design evolved as a U-shaped plan that
enabled maximum exposure to winter sun.

By taking on a select number of builds per year, Craig Sheiles ensures clients
have direct contact with key personnel throughout the entire building process
Designed to accommodate the active lives of
teenage girls, their separate private zones and a
communal family space, the home consists of a
gymnasium, home theatre, four-car garage, a
homework room, parent’s suite in private quarters,
and a teenager’s wing on the upper floor.
The main living areas facing the street have
a protected verandah-like connection to the
front garden and swimming pool, with privacy
maintained via a screen wall with louvre inserts.
A central courtyard zone allows extra space
and an alternative outdoor living environment,
along with an enclosable alfresco area on the
southern side of the living area. Large glass
sliding and bi-fold doors open up the entire area
to create a space capable of accommodating large
gatherings, while blurring the threshold of indoor
and outdoor spaces.

by an open timber-clad staircase and a glazed
