his home adapts international architecture
and cultural living with a modern design
to embody today’s Australian society and
lifestyle. The combination of rendered brickwork,
metal cladding and recycled bricks creates the
modern industrial look desired by the client.
The owners are a young couple settling
in Perth from living abroad in Europe. They
fell in love with the locality of Churchlands
and wanted to create a home that was modern
yet practical, flowing on from their European-
They sought a contemporary and unique design
reflecting a modern, slightly industrial image,
yet with a comfortable feel and space enough to
accommodate guests, or a growing family.
Designed by Daniel Cassettai, the home is
currently being prepared for construction on a
344sqm block in picturesque Churchlands. Design
challenges included limited space to manipulate
the main living and entertaining areas in order to
achieve the desired benefits from the northern sun.
Two courtyards were encompassed to
accommodate flexible outdoor entertaining all year
round, and to open up and allow light into main
living areas. The two-storey design incorporates
separate living and sleeping areas both upstairs
and down, with ample entertainment areas inside
and out to cater for any occasion. The varying roof
lines emerge with striking depth and articulation,
generating a boundless, visually pleasing structure.
his Floreat home hosts a bold and
spectacular character demanding the
attention of its environment, yet its
warmth is emanated through the smooth,
calming finishes and surrounding greenery.
The owners are a young couple who
desired generous living areas alongside an
outdoor entertaining area that was capable of
accommodating the luxury of views. Their vision
was to create a living space that reflected the clean
and crisp styles of a modern European home.
This Churchlands home combines rendered
brickwork, recycled bricks and metal cladding.
