As one of the world’s biggest fabric editors, JAB
Anstoetz distributes across five continents.
Increasingly, these beautiful textiles are stepping
out of our interiors and into the outdoors. We
speak with the company’s international sales vice
president, Roger Neimeyer, about this shift.
When did fabrics become a key trend for the
outdoors? The outdoor trend started when
people began investing in good outdoor
furniture, but back then you could only find a
limited range of fabrics. So, for JAB Anstoetz
it became a natural progression.
How should fabrics be used in the outdoors?
All designs are suitable for a mix of upholstery
– cu shions, tablecloths, lampshades, curtains and
sun beds. There is no limit, only one’s imagination.
Velvets and the outdoors aren’t a traditional
fit – why and how have you done this?
Velvet has been a strong trend within the
JAB collections, so it was natural for us to
develop one for use outdoors.
Is the move towards more sumptuous textures
for the outdoors, and the layering of fabrics,
in relation to the move towards more ‘lounge
room’ style exterior areas? Yes. This is why we
have pushed the development of the velvet. The
trend has been much more sumptuous, using
more texture and outdoor curtains.
What colours are key for the outdoors
(winter and summer)? Fancy colours, like pink
orange and raspberry, as well as contemporary
colours for winter, like chocolate and taupe.
Will the colours fade? All products within the
outdoor collections of JAB Anstoetz have
the ‘colour protect by JAB Anstoetz’ label,
which guarantees resistance against UV and
sunlight. The colour protect fabrics are also okay
with chlorine and seawater. And they are
extremely easy to take care of – just soap and
water will be sufficient to remove stains. With
colour protect by JAB you can enjoy your
outdoor fabrics for a long time.
What does this fabric collection add to our
outdoors? With this collection, you can create
your own environment and bring your indoor
What can we look forward to in the future
